The Chamonix valley must be one of the best paragliding sites in the world, and it was for this reason that Rob and Suzanne (the owners of the Alpine Retreat) originally moved to the French Alps and to Les Houches. For novices, there are several paraglider schools to choose from which offer tandem experience flights as well as introductory courses and more advanced thermalling packages. For those who are already competent, come and enjoy some truly excellent flying.
Rob and Suzanne have been paragliding for over 15 years and they have lived in the valley for the past 9 years. Although they do not offer a formal guiding service, they would be happy to share their experience with visiting pilots together with providing up to date weather forecasts and information about local take-off and flying sites. They must stress however that any information provided in no way absolves visiting pilots from making their own decisions and taking sole responsibility for their flying.
