Travel to the Alpine Retreat is straightforward. Driving to Les Houches or flying into Geneva airport are the most popular options. We recommend www.easyjet.com. Cheap flights are also available to Turin, Milan, Genoa, all an easy drive away via the Mont Blanc tunnel - see www.ryanair.com.

If you wish to drive here, use the cross-channel ferries or the tunnel. The drive from the coast is most easily done via the Autoroute motorways, and takes between 8 and 10 hours. A more leisurely route through the scenic villages could form part of your holiday if you have a little more time to spare.

Flights from UK to Geneva are regular and frequent. The journey from Geneva to Les Houches is most easily done by hiring a car from the airport and using the car to optimize your travel opportunities once in the Chamonix valley. The driving is easy and picturesque along the aptly named Autoroute Blanche. Transfers may be arranged from the airport for those who choose not to drive. For a TRANSFER to/from Geneva airport, click here. Otherwise, you could to board a regular bus from the airport to the valley. (During the ski season, there is a ski bus from the airport which stops in Les Houches).

If you are driving, head for Chamonix Mont-Blanc on the Autoroute Blanche (A40), and have some loose coins or a credit card handy for the 2 toll stations after the Swiss border. After about 70 Kms from Geneva, start looking for signs to Les Houches. Pass through 2 tunnels and take the first exit for Les Houches. Turn right off the slip road and head up the hill to the Bellevue cable car station. Turn right and go past Hotel Slalom. After about 200 meters you will pass through a short tunnel. Park on either side of the road immediately after this tunnel. The Alpine Retreat is a yellow building at the top of a short climbing drive on the left of the road (in the direction that you were traveling). There is a small sign to the Alpine Retreat at the bottom. In summer ONLY it is possible to unload at the top of the drive before then parking at the bottom. (This saves blocking-in of cars at the top). If you need any further information about getting here, please contact us:
